What is Wegovy?

Wegovy is a medication that you inject yourself using a special pen. It helps reduce your hunger and cravings for food. While using it, you’ll also work with your health guide to get more physical activity and eat for better health.

Medication schedule

You take Wegovy once a week, but you won’t start at the full amount. It’s important to slowly raise your dose to make sure your body can handle it. Contact us right away if you have vomiting, severe pain in your belly, or other new symptoms.

Here’s your medication schedule:

  • Month 1. Take 0.25 mg once a week for 4 weeks.
  • Month 2. Take 0.5 mg once a week for 4 weeks.
  • Month 3. Take 1 mg once a week for 4 weeks.
  • Month 4. Take 1.7 mg once a week for 4 weeks
  • Month 5. Take 2.4 mg once a week for 4 weeks.

You reach the full dose at month 5 — keep taking this amount. We’ll check in regularly to see if you should stay on Wegovy.

Picking up Wegovy at the pharmacy

We’ve already sent your prescription for each dose to the pharmacy. We recommend picking up only the dose you currently need. It’s less to manage and you may need insurance approval for each dose. Let us know if you run into any issues with your insurance.

How to use the Wegovy pen

Carefully read the directions that come with the pen. The Wegovy website also has more details and a video showing how to use the pen.
